Born Again

Materials/Process: Images of lips from fashion magazines are cut using an assortment of heart-shaped craft punches and assembled with pins on a foam panel.

David Adey does some fascinating work.  I know I've said it before, but I have os much respect for artist who embark on these painstaking processes to make their work. I'm just not that kind of artist and it's amazing to me the patience that some people have. Make sure you check out Swarm as well, it's crazytown.

Girls

I just watched The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, it was brutal but I can't stop thinking about it.

I've been somewhat obsessed with heroines lately and I've been mulling over the characteristics of those women in literature and art that I find inspiring and why I find them so.  

What makes a woman worthy of recognition? Beauty? Intelligence? Strength-moral, physical or emotional strength? Skill? Mystique? Perseverance? Just being a straight bad ass? ...

Blows My Mind

Riusuke Fukahori. This shit is crazy.

I thought at first glance that they were real fish encased in resin, which would be rude.  But the fish are actually painted layer upon layer of resin. Watch the video-it's ridiculous.

I'm very much the oposite of a meticulous artist so to see someone else's process who painstakingly captures every detail just blows me away.  I need to challenge myself to work in ways other than my normal M.O.
